It’s been a wonderfully festive overindulgent holiday season. Upon returning from a bike trip to Europe and discovering fabulous wines, crusty bread and wheels of goat and sheep cheese, my husband and I took to drinking wine more than occasionally. We effortlessly slipped right into the holiday spirit. Sugar and I don’t get along so regardless of the organic red, (resveratrol), health benefits I overindulged. Recognizing imbalance I took the steps to restore and renew myself and am feeling better than ever. You can too.
The good news; despite overeating, excess drinking, and reduced exercise the body is continually working on our behalf to seek balance and health. Thank goodness!
For the duration of this year consider implementing this tip: Take one day a week to eat clean: organic vegetables, fruits, hearty vegetable soups, fresh pressed juices and delete dairy, gluten, flesh, soy products and processed sugar. In the yoga tradition Thursday is cleanse day. Plan for the same day each week-create a habit.
Why are our seasonal cleanses so effective?
Our seasonal cleanses are effective because they nurture sustained positive changes.
Intensity and release are found through the physical body first and then ripples inward toward the mind. As we move and take in the unfamiliar, (yoga, cleansing), we move closer to sustained growth by naturally changing our habits and fixations. Holiday eating is so out of balance that we often swing toward deprivation. There is a middle path in the Nourishing Habits Cleanse. Habits and fixations are all in the mind; as we get in touch with our physical body, through clean eating and various movement we shift into experience instead of thinking. You know the saying “don’t believe everything you think”. Steer clear of the booby traps of the mind and into direct experience.
Beyond breath there is no better mindfulness tool than food . We have to eat.
Let one day of clean eating be good enough for now and plan on taking the steps necessary for continued change.
Come home to your body.
Happy Holiday blessings to all,
Kai
